My poem to my sister I read to her on her 65th birthday this past January in Kauai:
To Robin, my sister, the next girl after me
You sure could dress up, as pretty as can be.
Your joyous ways, with all your kid's singing,
Down the road you'd drive, my ears would be ringing.
"You're just like Mom" you've been told before
The fun never stops, the kids yelling for more.
Born in Hawaii, now that's pretty cool
A little blonde baby from Oahu.
Your beautiful kids and grand babies, too,
Are your legacy of love that shines right through.
After a midlife crisis you took to the road,
Driving an 18-wheeler, you were so bold!
You soon were respected, your talents unbound.
You carved out your way and a new love was found
Not just in trucking but Billy was there, too,
To fulfill your life and find fun things to do!
Your cruises were exciting, especially the one,
When Mom and I joined in all the fun!
The dolphin swim and "Jamaica man,"
"Margarita-ville" has made me a fan!
You still continue to brighten the room,
And laugh away all the gloom!
So like Mom but stronger I see
From all you've endured and set yourself free!
Your faith is solid, you're God's cherished one,
The battles you fought, the trials you've won.
So, "yes," a mighty legacy you pass along,
The power of love, there's nothing as strong!
We miss you so much but now your spirit is free and you're hugging your brothers Eric and Joey in Heaven!
