When I started working at Eliza Jennings, Rita was the first person that I got to interview. From that moment on, Rita and her roommate Carla became part of my life. Stopping by Rita's room to say hallo became my daily routine. Many people will talk about Rita's kind heart or funny personality, but to me Rita was one of the strongest people I've met. Given Rita's difficult past, she would always be full of positive energy, which made me want to be a better person. People always thanked me for taking care of Rita, but they do not realize the impact that Rita had not just on me, but the whole staff of Eliza Jennings. So, in a way Rita was taking care of us. While Rita is in heaven now, probably flirting with Elvis Parsley, I spend my days missing her smile. I am very thankful that I got the opportunity to spends some time with such a wonderful person.
My best memories of aunt Rita has always been my brat as she would put it . She had been through alot in her life . Aunt Rita was strong and I will miss her deeply. Mama judy always talked highly of her sister rita. I remember being about 8 years old when i met rita. She had came in from out of town to ma ma judys house and she brought Us kids a stuffed puppy. She. Was full of love and joy and mama judy read her the bible and made supper. We were altogether as a family should be. I remember seeing her in a wheel chair. And feeling sad that she couldnt walk but now shes in heaven with mama running and dancing and shouting joyfully.
