Adrian Phillips' Obituary
Adrian Lemont Phillips, “AP”
Adrian Lemont Phillips, lovingly known as “AP,” was born on October 24, 1999, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He departed this life on February 27, 2026, in Huntington, West Virginia. Though his time here was far too brief, Adrian’s impact on his family, friends, and community will be felt for generations to come.
Adrian was the cherished son of Tracy Phillips and the late Adrianne Phillips. He was preceded in death by his brother, Derious “DJ” Johnson; his uncle, Patrick Daniels; his grandfather, James “Jimmy” Daniels; his mother, Adrianne Phillips; his brother, Alias Phillips; his grandmother, Imogene Phillips, uncle Aaron Pleasant and aunt Keisha Dawson. Each of these loved ones held a special place in his heart, and we find comfort in knowing he is reunited with them.
He leaves behind to honor his memory his devoted father, Tracy Phillips (Monique Scott); his grandmother, Patricia Daniels; grandmother, Barbara Smith; and his beloved siblings: Arialle Phillips, Shamika Lyons, Tylivia Hudson, Aalaijah Phillips, Deodre Phillips, Azaria Smith, Phabian Phillips, Tracy Phillips, Jr., Arian Phillips, Chris Moore, and Demarcus Debose. He is also survived by his great-aunt, Maxine Hall; his uncles, Michael, Eric, Rickey (Angel), Kenny (Carolyn), Richard (Monica), and Jimmy Jr. (Leigh Ann); and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he loved dearly. Adrian’s family was his pride and joy, and he treasured every moment spent with them.
A 2018 graduate of Huntington High School, Adrian continued to pursue his goals with determination and focus. He attended Mountwest Maritime Academy at Mountwest Community and Technical College, where he diligently completed his continuing education credits and achieved his Deckhand Basic Training Certification in June 2023. This accomplishment marked an important milestone, opening the door for him to work as a deckhand on barges and reflecting his strong work ethic and desire to build a meaningful future.
In September 2023, Adrian was hired by the City of Huntington as a laborer in the Street Department. He quickly became a valued member of the City of Huntington Street Division family. Adrian genuinely enjoyed his work and looked forward to seeing his colleagues each day, proudly referring to them not just as coworkers, but as friends. His reliability, warmth, and easygoing nature made him someone others could count on.
Adrian had a deep love for basketball and enjoyed watching DJ coach. He was a devoted Cincinnati Bengals fan—anyone who knew AP knew exactly where his loyalty stood on game day. His enthusiasm was contagious, and he wore his team pride with joy. Above all, Adrian’s smile could light up any room. It was a reflection of his kind spirit, his gentle heart, and the love he carried for those around him.
He loved his family and friends wholeheartedly and held an extra special place in his heart for his longtime girlfriend, LaKeisha Mitchell. Their bond was one of love, support, and shared dreams.
Though we mourn the loss of Adrian Lemont Phillips, we celebrate a life defined by love, perseverance, laughter, and loyalty. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
