Andrew Jackson Smith's Obituary
Andrew Jackson Smith, 69, of Huntington, WV, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on March 30, 2026, at St. Mary’s Medical Center. He was born on August 22, 1956, in Hamlin, WV, to Bill and Katherine Smith. Andrew attended Huntington East High School where he made many friendships that still last today. He was known above all as a hard worker and a family man. He was employed by Service Glass Company from the age of sixteen where he served in many capacities within the company and went on to become part owner. He retired two years before his death and was proud that he was joined in business by some of his family; he worked alongside his wife and son-in-law for many years. In his free time, he loved to golf and enjoyed being out on the course, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family. He dearly loved his wife, daughter, and son-in-law, and especially loved getting to support his grandchildren by attending all of their activities. The highlight of his life the last year was becoming a great grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Katherine Smith, his siblings, Darlene (Mac) Jeffery, Glenn (Beverly) Smith, and Anthony Smith, his sister-in-law, Carol Smith, and his mother-in-law, Rose Jean Ryder. He is survived by his loving wife, Iris Jean (Jeannie), his daughter, April Beth (Joey) Blair, his grandchildren, Brocton Andrew (Makayla) Blair and Brooklyn Aleese Blair, great grandson, Brantley Joseph Blair, and siblings, Henry (Linda) Smith, Agnes (Junior) Adkins, Ricky Smith, Judy Smith, his sister-in-law, Debbie Stepp, brother-in-law, Rick Ryder, and a host of nieces and nephews. Andrew will be sadly missed by all who knew him. There will be a visitation at noon for family only. A public celebration of life will be held at 2 P.M Monday, April 6, 2026, at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio. Officiating will be Perry Coleman. During the service, Brocton Blair will share memories and speak about his Papaw. There will be a graveside service at Miller Memorial Gardens in Miller, Ohio immediately following the service. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the celebration of life at the funeral home. April would like to thank her mom for the love and dedication she showed her dad the last fourteen months as he battled cancer. It was a true witness to her love and dedication to her dad and their family. In these last months, it was heartwarming to watch their fifty-year love story in action. Condolences may be expressed to the family at https://www.ehallfuneralhome.com.
