Ardith Smith's Obituary
ARDITH PRIDEMORE SMITH, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother died Monday, May 17, 2016 at the age of 96 in Houston Texas after a short illness. The former resident of South Point, Ohio resided at Parkway Place in Houston, Texas for more than 15 years. Ardith was born December 27, 1919 in Myra, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Jason Edward Pridemore and Amy Morrison Pridemore. She married Ernest Powell Smith in 1939 and together they exemplified what a loving marriage is for over sixty years. Ardith graduated from Marshall (University) College with a BA in Education and touched many lives through her more than 20 year career teaching school in Holden, West Virginia and South Point, Ohio. Ardith was a devoted member of the United Methodist Church where she held numerous leadership positions. She was also active throughout her life with her many friends and was always engaged in many school and community organizations. Ardith is survived by her daughter Judith (Roger) Daniels of Katy, TX, grandson Phillip (Vicki) Daniels of New Philadelphia, OH, great grandchildren Bryan Daniels of Littleton, CO, Emily Neer of Blacksburg, VA, Sarah Daniels of Fort Worth, TX and Grant Daniels of New Philadelphia, OH, as well as many nephews and nieces whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by husband, Ernest Powell Smith in 1999, grandson Roger Craig Daniels in 2015 and three siblings, Hubert Pridemore, Daniel Pridemore and Edith Edwards. Ardith loved animals, especially her schnauzer dogs, Trudy, Holly and Lucy. Funeral services will be at the Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home in Chesapeake, OH, at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 21, 2016. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on the day of the funeral. Interment will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Hamlin, WV.
