Betty Gail Shafer's Obituary
Betty Gail Shafer, 87, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Miller, Ohio, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2025 at the Grant Medical Center in Columbus. Born on January 25, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Jessie Hardesty Bowman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 children, Betty Hope & Michael Shafer, the father of her children, “Buck” James Paul Shafer, and 7 siblings: Burl (Edna) Bowman, “Sonny” Garrett Bowman, Tommy Bowman, Jimmy (June) Bowman, Shurlene “Hope” Bowman, Fern (Tom) Wheeler, and Jennia (Richard) Tillman; along with brothers-in-law John Flint and Carl Barr. Betty is survived by her son, James Lee Shafer; 6 siblings, Sandra Flint, Brenda Barr, Joyce (Roger) Short, Sammy (Jean) Bowman, Duane (Gail) Bowman, and David (Beverly) Bowman, sister-in-law Jenny Bowman; and many nieces and nephews. Betty retired from the State of Ohio after many years of service. The joy and laughter she spread will be missed by us all. We will fondly recall the memories and look forward to meeting her again one day. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, February 7, 2025 at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory in Proctorville, Ohio, with Pastor Phil Bowman, officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow at Miller Memorial Gardens in Miller, Ohio. Condolences may be expressed to the family at ehallfuneralhome.com
