Billy R. Holland's Obituary
Billy Ray Holland, Sr, 93, of Burlington, OH, entered his heavenly home on December 20, 2025, at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington. He was born May 21, 1932, in Proctorville, Ohio. Billy proudly served his country in the United States Army, enlisting in 1952 and completing two tours, including service during the Korean War. He served honorably and carried with him the values of duty, discipline, and camaraderie throughout his life. Following his military service, Billy pursued his calling as an auto technician, working at various locations until his retirement. A true outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, tending to his large garden, watching sports—especially the Pittsburgh Steelers—and cooking for family and friends. His famous fried chicken was a favorite among all who knew him. Billy had a deep passion for collecting antique cars and possessed an extraordinary gift with his hands. Fondly known by family as “Bob Villa,” he was always building, fixing, or creating something. He will be remembered for his kind heart, unwavering generosity, and deep devotion to his family. Billy gave freely, without fanfare or expectation. His presence brought warmth, humor, and a sense of belonging wherever he went. His passing leaves the world a little less vibrant, and he will be deeply missed by all who have the privilege of knowing and loving him. Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Bertha Holland; six sisters, Vinda Wilson, Mary Hayslip, Nancy Holland, Lillie Poe, MayBelle Ford, and Martha Lease; and three brothers, Miles Holland, Marion Holland, and Herbert Holland, Sr. He leaves to cherish his memory his eight children: Debra Howell of Gallipolis, Ohio; Billy Holland, Jr. of Gallipolis, Ohio; Rolland Holland, Sr. of San Diego, California; Kalynda (Willie) Cloud of Martinsburg, West Virginia; Gayle Holland Jenkins of Plano, Texas; Anita (Charles) Clark of Midlothian, Texas; Tanisha (Robert) Sansbury of Williamsburg, Virginia; and Marion Holland of Burlington, Ohio. He is also survived by his beloved cat, Fatman; special grandson, Robert “RJ” Sansbury, Jr.; 16 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; nephews Jackie Holland, Sr., Roger Holland, Larry Ford, and Herbert (Debbie) Holland, Jr.; nieces Beverly (Larry) Smith and Leslie Choates; special sisters-in-love, Susie Alexander and Ailene Mayo Garner; and a host of cherished relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held at 2 P.M. Monday, December 29, 2025, at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, OH. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
