Byron Thomas Murrell's Obituary
Byron Thomas Murrell, age 46, of Milton, Florida, formerly of Huntington, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 7, 2025. He was born on July 29, 1979, in Huntington,
WV, to the union of Bert (Tommy) and Beverly (Jones) Murrell.
Byron graduated from Huntington High School. He also attended the University of Tennessee where he met some amazing young men. While he planned to join a 25th reunion with friends and classmates on November 15, we gather today without him. Meanwhile, he has gone ahead to join the grand reunion, planned by God for all his children (described in 1 Thessalonians 4). Byron graduated from Marshall University with a Bachelor of Business Administration (Management) in 2007. Byron worked in Lexington, KY and recently transferred to Pensacola, Florida where he worked at World Ford of Pensacola as an Asst. Service Manager.
Byron loved life and always had a huge smile. He had the gift of gab. Byron’s personality was heart warming and he never met a stranger. He was very competitive and he would always say, “If you are not cheating, you’re not trying”. He loved being with his family (playing in the family horseshoe tournament) and playing games and wrestling with his sons.
Byron joined 16th St. Baptist Church at an early age. He loved wrestling and football (especially when it came to his sons- he never missed a game or match). His favorite teams were the Miami Hurricanes and the Las Vegas Raiders.
Besides his loving parents Tommy and Beverly Murrell of Huntington WV, he leaves to cherish his precious memory, his sons, Bryson Thomas Murrell and Jordan Tyler Murrell of Huntington WV, his brothers Rick (Sabrina) Rougeau of Grand Fork, Canada, Steve Blake of Lexington, KY, Trevellis Murrell and Dorrell Murrell of Huntington, WV, his sisters, Nicole Lee (Tony), Medina, OH, and Alicia (Byron) Williams, Winchester, KY, his grandmother Imogene Vaughan of Huntington, WV and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Willie Belle Jones,
Bert Murrell Sr., great grandparents, Robert and Beatrice Johnson and uncle Robert E. Jones.
Byron was deeply loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps”. Proverbs 16:9
