Carl Bible Harmon's Obituary
CARL BIBLE HARMON, 86, of Barboursville, WV, passed away Sunday, December 22, 2013, in Cabell Huntington Hospital surrounded by his family and friends. Funeral service will be 7:30 PM Friday, December 27, 2013, at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home with Pastors Larry Greene and John Fry officiating. There will be a private family burial in the Prater Family Cemetery. Carl "PopPop" was a caring, quiet man who loved the Lord, his family, Cowboy his cat, The University of Tennessee, his church and Sunday School class, and the Barboursville senior group. He was a member of River Cities Community Church. Carl was a 1944 graduate of Whitesburg, TN High School and a 1950 graduate of the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. He served in the US Army from 1944 to 1946. Carl lived and worked in Chillicothe, OH, Oak Ridge, Morristown, and Knoxville, TN, Lexington, KY, Punta Gorda, FL, and Barboursville, WV. Carl was born December 29, 1926, in Whitesburg, TN, a son of the late Junius Bible and Mable Douglas White Harmon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Margaret "Betty" Lawson Harmon; his brothers, Junius Bible "J.B." Harmon, Jr., Guy Wallace Harmon, and Kenneth N. Harmon; his sisters, Evelyn Cook, Marjorie "Jo" Greene, Madge Harmon, and Margarette Harmon. PopPop is survived by his children, Steven Harmon and his wife, Patricia of Naperville, IL, Carla Prater and her husband, Gregory of South Point, OH, Laurence Harmon and his wife, Catherine of Crown Point, NY, and Theresa Wolterman and her husband, Michael of Brighton, MI; his grandchildren of whom he loved and was so very proud, Steven, Ryan and his wife, Melissa, and Sean Harmon, Jessica Runyon and her husband, Aaron, Kendra Marino and her husband, Anthony, Ethan Prater, Vincent Wolterman and his wife, Christine, Andrew, and Melinda Wolterman, Emily and Catherine Eleanor Harmon; and his great grandchildren that he loved, Reanna and Ty Harmon, Shelby, Nick, and Grace Runyon, Michael, Cassidy, and Connie-Lou Wolterman. Visitation will be 6 to 7:30 PM Friday, December 27, 2013, at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home, Chesapeake, OH. In lieu of flowers, Carl's wishes are for donations to be made to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of his wife, Margaret "Betty" Harmon.
