Carmel Maynard Lewis' Obituary
Carmel Lewis, 92, of Chesapeake, OH passed away at home on January 24, 2019. She was born December 9, 1926 in Wayne County,WV. A daughter of the late Jarrett and Reba Maynard. Carmel was a proud member of Philadelphia United Baptist Church. Her passions were God and her family. Throughout the years, Carmel always loved to be outside with her flowers and yard. While inside, baking, reading, or quilting, her hands were never idle. She will always be remembered as a caregiver for her family, numerous children, neighbors and her focus always with and caring for needs of others. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert A. Lewis; a great grandson, Grayson Phillips; three brothers, Clevis, Nelva, and Ray. Carmel is survived by her children, Pam Hollar (Chester) and Ron (Rene') Lewis all of Chesapeake, Ohio. Also surviving are grandchildren, Jerrad Riggs, Kim Harless of Chesapeake, Jana Riggs of Huntington, Robert "Andy"(Victoria) Lewis and Rachel (Noah) Phillips all of Chesapeake, OH; six great grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Jean Maynard. The family wishes to express a special thank you to Hospice of Huntington and a never ending gratitude to Geraldine Adkins and Mildred Boley for the wonderful care given to Carmel. Visitation will be from 6pm-8pm on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Schneider-Hall Funeral Home, Chesapeake, Ohio. Funeral service will be held at 1:30pm on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at Schneider-Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Don Napier and Glenn Kiah Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in Jarrett Maynard Cemetery, Wayne, WV. The family realize that due to road conditions at the cemetery site it may be difficult to attend. There will be a private burial following the service.
