Charles Franklin Barker's Obituary
CHARLES FRANKLIN BARKER, 86 of South Point OH, took his last earthly journey and went home to his eternal reward on December 10, 2022.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents Bert and Goldie Barker and his wife Emma Jean Barker whom he had been married to for 49 years.
He is survived by his two daughters Clara Barker of Navarre FL and Deborah Short (Dale) of Chesapeake OH, as well as his son Charles C. Barker (Iona) of Cheyenne WY. Charles left behind two brothers: Jimmy Barker and Bert 'Rusty' Barker; four sisters: Barbara Garcia, Christine Weaver, Janie Smith, and Lynda Hayslip; four grandchildren: Roberta Short Randall (John) of Stanley VA, Glenn Dale Short Jr. (Delaya) of Chesapeake OH, Joshua Short (Lindsay) of South Point OH and Jonathan Gordon (Melissa) of Troy AL; twelve great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
Charles received his "Bachelors of Science in Education" degree from Ohio University on August 26, 1978 and he used this knowledge in his profession with the Ashland Oil Company as he worked in the lab testing the specification of each product before shipment.
His knowledge of Herbs and their usage was extensive and he was very passionate about helping others to find a natural option to help with their physical ailments.
Charles had a great influence within the church by being an Assistant Pastor with the "Original Glorious Church of God In Christ". He continued his ministry by Pastoring another assembly for several years in which his mom and dad had been members. In his later years he was a member of the "Hanging Rock Church of Jesus Christ" where he rejoiced with the people who encouraged him with the love of the Lord.
The Barker family sincerely appreciates the Hospice caregivers' compassion shown to Charles and his loved ones. The family humbly thanks everyone for the calls and visits during Charles' illness and providing food, comfort, and love.
There will be a funeral service held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at Hall Funeral Home & Crematory in Proctorville, OH officiated by his son Charles C. Barker. Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 from 5-7 p.m. also at the funeral home.
