With deepest sympathies i type this message. Words can't express how sad the news of Chuck's passing was for me. My heart breaks for our family as they struggle to say their temporary goodbyes to Uncle Chuck. I have so many memories that bring a smile to my face and a tear to my eye. I can still hear his laugh and see that sideways grin when he would joke. It was an absolute pleasure to know Uncle Chuck and I hope and trust he felt the love of his family as he passed. I wish California was not so far away from all of my McCormick family and Covid had never happened. I was trying to make a trip to meet everyone this past summer before this all started. My dad, Chuck, who is Chuck's cousin (his mom was Mary M. McCormick Byers), barely made it through Covid. My thoughts, prayers and love are with you all. I had met Chuck at Big Branch Freewill Baptist Church back in '95 I believe. My parents and I were searching for a church to go to. We were blown away how much it felt like family. People say that kind of thing all the time, but this was just that. Chuck was such a fireball. I have never seen anyone be able to run across the pews the way he did. He was electric when he preached. I was only 14 but Chuck didnt know a stranger. He was ready to crack a joke, help you out in the time of need, give a listening ear, and a big hug to cry on. His nickname for me was Smiley. Honestly enough, how could you not smile when you were around him It is sad hearing of his passing. My most sincere condolences to his family.
Prayers for friends and family. Pastor Chuch was more than a pastor he was a friend. He always greeted anyone who entered the church. He will be and is greatly missed.
