Charles Ray Slone's Obituary
Charles Ray Slone, 90, of Proctorville, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Paramount Senior Living in Ona, WV. Born on February 17, 1935, in Belcher, KY, he was the son of the late Burgess “Shiloah” and Flora Slone. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Phyllis A. Slone, in 2015; his sister, Lois Ramey, and his brother, Danny Slone. Charles is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Cindy Slone of Proctorville, Ohio; one grandson, Kyle Slone, who was his pride and joy and affectionately referred to Charles as “Poppy”; siblings, Jewel Elswick, Bennie Slone, and Patricia Belcher; brother-in-law, James Wright, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was a member of Church of Christ and was also a United States Army Veteran serving in the Vietnam war. A graveside service and burial will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Rome Cemetery in Proctorville, OH, with Minister Brad Poe, officiating. No visitation will be held. Pallbearers will be Steve Slone, Kyle Slone, Kevin Harvey, David Kidd, Troy Tackett, and Bryan Ward. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Huntington.
