Cleon "Ed" Edward Yeager's Obituary
Cleon Edward “Ed” Yeager, 92, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 2nd at the Wyngate Senior Living Community in Proctorville, Ohio. A member of the Greatest Generation, He was born June 28, 1926 in Latrobe, WV. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Edward Yeager and Ada Watson Yeager; sisters Willa Peck of Mansfield, Ohio, and Zo White of Logan, WV; first wife Wilma Ethel (Thompson) Yeager, and second wife Wilma Ann (Elkins) Yeager. Ed graduated from Logan High School in 1944 and enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in the South Pacific during World War II. After the war he was employed by Appalachian Power Company as a draftsman and later electrical engineer, retiring in 1988 in Huntington, WV as substation superintendent. During his employment at Appalachian Power he attended Marshall University and was a Red Cross First Aid and CPR Instructor. Ed was a founding member of New Baptist Church in Huntington, WV. A Freemason, he was Past Master of Western Star Lodge #11 AFAM, High Priest of Guyandotte Chapter #10 RAM, and member of Huntington Commandery #9. He was a Life Member of the American Legion and VFW Post #6878. Ed is survived by his son, Robert Edward (Ed) Yeager (Mary) of Westerville, Ohio, two granddaughters, Katherine Becker (Chris) and Grace Guagenti (Nick), and two great granddaughters. Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, January 7, 2018 at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, WV. Proctorville V.F.W. Post 6878 will conduct military graveside rites. Visitation will be held 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, January 7, 2018 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Huntington or Proctorville VFW Post 6878. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ehallfuneralhome.com.
