Clyde William Nelson, Jr's Obituary
Clyde William Nelson, Jr., 81, of Ironton, Ohio, passed away Monday October 8, 2018 at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, KY. He was born February 21, 1937 in Cooke County, IL son of the late Clyde, Sr and Hazel Irvin Freeman Nelson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Rev. A. G. and Hazel Bertha Freeman; paternal grandparents John and Katheryn Nelson; and one brother Andrew Nelson. He is survived by his wife Siratwena “Tena” Nelson; five children Kenneth Regan Collins, Kellia Jean Bivins, Cassandra Dianne (Clarence) Daniels, Brock Carmicheal Smith and Isaiah Dupre’ Nelson; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; two sisters Barbara Jean Collins and Dianne Keaton Garrison; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was a 1957 Ironton High School graduate. He was a member of Christ Temple Church, Ashland, Ky where he participated in the The Men’s Choir. He was a member of Flames Motorcycle Club, Columbus, Ohio and a member of United Steel Workers Union #8664. He was the owner of Nelson Refrigeration and Appliance Repair. He also worked at Ironton Iron, Anderson Grocery Store, Buckeye Steel in Columbus, Ohio and Temko Roller Bearings in Columbus, Ohio. Funeral service will be conducted 12 p.m. Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Christ Temple Church 2601 Lexington Avenue, Ashland, KY with Pastor J.D. Crockrel officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Ironton, Ohio. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
