Danny Ray Callicoat's Obituary
Danny Ray Callicoat, 68, of Oak Hill, Ohio passed away peacefully Monday, December 17, at Harbor Healthcare of Ironton with his family by his side. Danny was born August 10,1950 in Scottown, Ohio to Elsie McComas and Garold Callicoat. He was preceded in death by both parents, Step-Father Ben Olah, Brother-in-Law Keith Schwab, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Danny is survived by his daughter Danni-Sue (Scott) Jackson of Lexington, Ky., son Justin Ash of Va., siblings Gary (Gail), Larry, Tommy (Vicki), Linda (Keith) Schwab, Lisa (Rob) Kimball, Patty Merz, grandchildren Autumn and Malachi Jackson, Step-Daughter Gwen Fulks, Uncle Calvin Swann , Aunt Kathy Hall, his furry best friend Bear and many special nieces, nephews and cousins. Danny was raised in Scottown, Ohio and at an early age developed a strong work ethic and a gift working with his hands. He worked his entire life doing construction specializing in building homes and remodeling. He loved the outdoors and was an avid outdoorsmen. He enjoyed and appreciated the beauty of nature. When he was not working he was likely found fishing or hunting in his free time. Danny had a smile that lit up a room and he made friends easily. He loved his family dearly and was close to his siblings. The last 6 months of Dannys life was spent at Harbor Healthcare of Ironton as he battled with brain cancer. His sister Linda was devoted to caring for him during his time there. The entire staff of Harbor Healthcare and Hospice cared for Danny well. The family is forever grateful for the kind and devoted nurses, aids, social workers, and all other employees that went above and beyond for Danny. They brought him much joy. A special thank you to Hospice for their support and care for Danny and the family during this hard time. The family will be holding a private memorial service.
