What a sweet lady to work with!! Loved her!!! Katie faulkner

I use to work with Darla and know she was an incredible and compassionate woman! We shared the same birthday and year and use to call each other brother and sister from another Mother 😀. I will miss you Darla and your incredible spirit! 😢

I regret that I did not get to tell Darla how wonderful a woman she was before she left us. I started at as a Respiratory Therapist at Cabell in 2003 and over the next 17 years or so of knowing Darla, she made me a better therapist, a better mother, and an overall better person. Her strength and devotion were inspiration to everyone that knew her. She was the best Respiratory Therapist I have ever worked with and loved her girls more than anything. She really was one of a kind. I am better for having you in my life Darla. I will miss you!!

Darla was such an amazing lady! I worked with her at CHH ( I worked in the ER) and we spent most of our time together transporting vent patients all over the building. She was an amazing respiratory therapist. She was always my go to for a challenging respiratory situations! And the ER had many of them. It was always a relief to see her coming with a breathing treatment or ventilator. She always shared these stories about her family, especially her two daughters. This was before Heidi of course! Heidi brought out a whole other level of love. Girls just know she loved you dearly and was so very proud of you. She will be fondly remembered and sorely missed. We will keep all your family in our prayers.

Darla brought so many gifts to my life. I will never forget her!

Darla will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was such a positive person, full of light. Sending prayers of comfort and peace to Darla's family.

Darla was truly a special one. My family moved to Proctorville when I was in the 8th grade - a new school and new people - so a bit intimidating for a very shy me. But Darla was one of the first to welcome and include me in her activities with her friends, who soon became my friends. Some of the things I can remember are riding bikes, dressing up in her mom's clothes, swimming at Riverside, pajama parties and afternoon movies in Huntington. Darla introduced me to 4-H, including camp in the summers, where we and several friends (you know who you are!) became known as the "Chain Gang," always together, whether line dancing, swimming, or going on lonnnng walks. Through high school Darla was one of my best band buddies; we played flute beside one another, marched through the heat of August and seemingly laughed continuously on trips to Disney World. In sum, what drew me to Darla was her kindness, authenticity, intelligence and, importantly, her silliness. I will miss her.

Megan and Molly,
My sincerest condolences to the two of you and to your family. Miss Darla was truly one of the angels that are sent to Earth to do good.
