Darrell W. Fowler's Obituary
Pastor Darrell William Fowler, Age 72 of Scottown, Ohio went home to be with the Lord surrounded by his immediate family on Saturday Morning, July 4, 2026, after an extended illness. Darrell was born in Huntington, West Virginia to the Late James William “Bill” Fowler and the Late Betty Lou Higgins Fowler who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death: his Grandparents, Emile and Dolly Fowler, Donald and Adrienne Higgins, and his mother and Father-in-Law, Billy and Juanita Payne. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Brenda S. Payne Fowler, a sister, Belinda Blankenship, and her husband Jack of Huntington, West Virginia, a son, Bryan Fowler, and his wife, Jody of Woodlawn, Tennessee, a daughter, Tiffany Fowler Bland, and her husband, Caleb of Willow Wood, Ohio, grandsons Will Fowler, and his Wife, Lauren and Trevor and Cooper Bland, Aunts Doris Wade and Sue Higgins Blagg and Uncle, Larry Higgins. In addition to his immediate family, he leaves behind many extended Family members, His cherished Church Family and dear Friends. Darrell was a graduate of Symmes Valley High School, he attended Ohio University, Tri-State Bible College, Liberty Bible College and Moody Bible Institute. In 2019, Pastor Darrell received his Doctor of Divinity and Theology through the College of The Open Bible.Pastor Darrell was ordained in the Ministry in 1975 and was the long time Pastor of New Zion Church in Willow Wood, Ohio having served for over 35 years. He previously was the Pastor of Perkins Ridge Church, Decatur Church and was Assistant Pastor of Palestine Church. He was the Moderator of the Centerpoint Association of United Baptist Churches for over 30 years. Pastor Darrell was heard weekly on his weekly radio broadcast, The Old Time Religion Hour on WEMM for over 37 years. Pastor Darrell was the founding owner of Village Floor Covering in South Point, Ohio. Pastor Darrell enjoyed playing sports in earlier years and was an accomplished baseball player. He was an avid sports fan and lifetime Cincinnati Reds Fan. Services for Pastor Darrell will be Wednesday, July 8 at 11am at Hall Funeral Home in Proctorville, Ohio with Pastors Roger Smathers, Garland Montgomery, and Willie May. Burial will follow at Locust Grove Cemetery in Willow Wood, Ohio. Friends may call on the family for visitation, Tuesday Evening, July 7th from 6pm-8pm and 1 hour immediately preceding the service on Wednesday. Pallbearers will be led by his long-time best friend, Keith Sturm. Pallbearers will be Jeff Fowler, his cousin, Caleb Bland, his son in law, Teddy Payne, his brother-in-law, Will Fowler, his grandson, Wayne Taylo and Mark Wilson, deacons and Brothers in Christ. Honorary Pall Bearers will be Grandsons, Trevor Bland and Cooper Bland. The Family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who prayed for and cared for Pastor Darrell during his illness. They are especially thankful to the compassionate staff of Community Hospice of Ashland, his dedicated care team at Mountain Health and his cousin, Connie Love whose kindness, support and loving care meant so much to him and his Family.
