David "Scott" Dunfee's Obituary
David “Scott” Dunfee, 54, of Huntington, WV, passed away on June 10, 2026. Born on September 9, 1971, he was the son of Dona K. Gothard and the late Carl Richard Dunfee. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by Donald T. Gothard (grandpa), and John McComas (son). Scott was a fun-loving, adventurous soul who never met a stranger and never passed up an opportunity for a good time. Whether he was tearing through trails on his motorcycle, cruising across the water on his boat, or tending to a smoker filled with food for family and friends, he found joy in every moment and made sure those around him did too.
He dedicated many years of his life to trades like auto mechanics, rail industry as a train master and was studying to be a tanker truck driver. His skill, work ethics, and integrity earned the respect of colleagues, clients and friends throughout his life. Though our hearts are broken by his loss, we find comfort in the countless memories he created and the love he shared so freely. His spirit will live on in every family gathering, every ride down an open road, every meal shared with loved ones. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
Family was at the center of everything he did. He never made distinctions between those connected by blood and those connected by love. He was blessed with a large family and he is survived by his loving wife, Margie L. Dunfee; Dona K Gothard (mother); siblings, Carl R. Dunfee (Mary), Dana Dunfee Bland (Ricky); children, David Scott Dunfee II, Jordawn Dunfee, Juleah Dotson (Caleb), Alesha Bowen (Tyler), Brian Ray (Mallory), Blade Ray, Scottie Dunfee (Savannah), Shay McComas, Ashlee Stewart (Jon), Trenton Stewart (Alexis), Bailey Stewart; nieces/nephews, Christopher R. “His life was an adventure, his heart was his family, and his legacy is the love he leaves behind.”
