Donald E. Clay, Jr., 72, of Lavalette, WV passed away Friday June 16, 2017 at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, WV. He was born November 13, 1944 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Donald and Ruth Faulkner Clay. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Ray Lewis Clay. He is survived by one son William Scott Clay of Summerville, SC; three daughters Diana (Robert) Marsh of Lavalette, WV, Angela (John) Thomas of Proctorville, and Sandra (Johnny) Ashworth of Chesapeake; eight grandchildren Zach, Emily, Robin, and Mimi Marsh, John and Erin Thomas, and Maggie and Emma Ashworth; four great grandchildren Aisha and John C. Thomas and Keagan an Avery Marsh; one sister Vivian Wakefield; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Donald served in the US Navy, serving during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a barber. He then became an aviator instructor and retired from the FAA. He was also a private pilot. Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday June 24, 2017 at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio. Burial will follow in Linville Cemetery, Willow Wood, Ohio. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday June 24, 2017 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the funeral home to assist with expenses.
