Dorothy Louise Beckett's Obituary
Her walker and wheelchair have been set aside, no longer needed, free from pain. A few days ago, she asked her children to get together to talk and she said her goodbyes, for she knew her time on earth was short. She also knew death was not the end and had expectations of seeing family she had not seen in years, for she knew that those who die in Christ have hope beyond the grave. Dorothy Louise Barnett Beckett, the first of five children born to the late Robert Judson and Vivian Chapman Barnett was born on November 20, 1941, and went to her new home on March 2, 2024. Jesus was waiting to greet her and close by were her parents, her son Clifton Beckett, sister Nora Fischer, and brother Lester Barnett. Those left behind to mourn her passing are her husband of 61 years John Beckett, her daughter, Cheryl (Rick) Newman; sons, Scott (Missy) Beckett, Craig (Lisa) Beckett, and Eric (Brooke) Beckett, and daughter-in-law Donna Beckett. Surviving also are sixteen grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. She also leaves behind a brother Dale (Janet) Barnett and sister Ruth Saunders. Dororthy loved her children (even though they asked, she wouldn't tell them which one was her favorite). She took them to church and prayed for them for them. When some of her grandchildren were young, she would often load them in her van and take them to church; someone asked if she had a bus route, "no, these are my grandkids." She was a member of Burlington Baptist Church and she loved Ladies Bible Studies, and at one time led them, and she is the reason that I love to study God's Word. Her race on earth is over, she is waiting for us in Heaven, for those who die in Christ "absent from the body means present with the Lord." I will see you again, my sister, my friend. I love you! The family would like to say a big "Thank You" to the Community Hospice Care Center for the love and care they showed Dorothy. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, March 7, 2024, 1:00 PM at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory in Proctorville, OH. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service from 12:00 - 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Forest Memorial Park in Milton, WV. with Pastor Dale Barnett also Dorothy's brother officiating. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at ehallfuneralhome.com.
