Douglas Thornton's Obituary
Douglas Orville Thornton, 73, of Chesapeake, OH, passed away Friday, January 12, 2024, at River Run Nursing Home, Coal Grove, OH. He was born in Steubenville, OH on February 18, 1950, to the late Walter and Betty Smith Thornton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Judith "Judie" Thornton; brother, Dolos Thornton and sister, Margaret Harper. He is survived by one son, Grant Thornton; daughter, Shannon Statzer; grandson, Timothy Swearingen; granddaughter, Cheyenne Statzer; great grandson, Vladimir Statzer, and another on the way.
Douglas was a retired steelworker and a United States Marine and Vietnam Veteran having served two tours of duty for his country.
