Douglass Ward Jackson, Jr.'s Obituary
Douglass W. Jackson, Jr., 69, of Huntington, WV, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington. Born on December 29, 1954, in Huntington, he was the son of the late Douglass Ward and Willa Mae Chappell Jackson, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Alice and Clemmie Surratt and his brother, Lamont Scott, and nephew Brent Jackson. Douglass was a member of the Army National Guard and was an avid fisherman. He practiced Taekwondo and was an expert in nunchucks. Douglass loved watching Westerns and enjoyed his friends and family. He is survived by his children, Chris Reed Botts, Kris-Jason Nicks of Huntington, William "Anthony" Curry, Tisha (Kevin) Ferguson, Douglass Ward Jackson III, Darren K. Jackson, and Rebekah "Diane" Jackson; siblings, Bobby Scott of NC, Thelma (Lloyd) Davis of Huntington, WV, Iris Jackson of Huntington, WV, Helen Thornhill of Huntington, WV, Lester Scott of Charleston, WV, and Priscilla Dambeck of GA; grandchildren, Autagus Botts (35), Devante Gordon (32), Savion Robinson (22), Malik Ferguson (25), Aashana Jackson (21), Mikalah Ferguson (19), Keathan Jackson (15), Keonte Curry, Quantis Nicks, Kailin Nicks, Aric Nicks, and Elias Curry; great-grandchildren, K'Mani Ferguson and A'Mariyah Joplin Jackson; special friend and caregiver, Sharon Jackson; special companion, Angie Turner, a host of friends and road dogs, and a whole lot of nieces and nephews he loved deeply. He retired from St. Mary's Medical Center after many years of service. A Celebration of Douglass' Life will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, August 30, 2024 at Young Chapel AME, 836 18th Street, Huntington, WV, 25703.
