E. "Katy" Simpson's Obituary
E. “Katy” Simpson, 78, of Athalia, OH, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, WV. She was born on August 19, 1946, in Huntington, WV. Katy was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother—roles to which she dedicated her life wholeheartedly. She was a proud member of the Bitty Committee, the V.F.W. Post 6878 Auxiliary, and an active participant in S.O.A.R. Katy is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gary Simpson; her two daughters, Crystal (Chrissy) Adkins and Summer Simpson; her parents, Homer and Evelyn Legg; and her brother, Clifton (Buddy) Legg. She is survived by her daughter, Gabrielle "Gabe" Simpson Cerullo (Dave); her granddaughters, Amanda Nance (Matt), Heather Cerullo (Erin), and Natalie Meehling (Hunter); her great-grandchildren, Wade Nance, Ryatt Nance, Emma Nance, Easton Nance, and Wyatt Meehling; her sisters, Linda Dyer and Donna Bowen; and her brother, Greg (Vicki) Legg. Katy deeply loved her family, cherished her friends, and found joy in the companionship of her two dogs, Chevy and Chloe. Funeral Service will be held at 2 P.M. Monday, April 28, 2025, at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, OH, with Pastor Gordon Simpson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
