Eldridge Eugene Journell's Obituary
Eldridge Gene Journell, 72, of Huntington, WV, passed away on Monday, May 10, 2022, at St. Mary's Medical Center, Huntington, WV. He was born on July 5, 1949, in Roanoke, VA, to the late Eldridge and Katherine Schilling Journell. He was also preceded in death by his brother James William Journell; sister Elizabeth Journell Pratt; nephew Jason Pratt; four brothers-in-law Gary Richard Byrd, Earl Plumley, Jay Michael Pratt, and Alan Williamson; and father-in-law and mother-in-law Robert "Bob" Lee and Avis June Blevins. He was a retired dietician for many years from the VAMC. He was a Vietnam Army Veteran and a Staff Sergeant with the National Guard for 22 years. To have known Gene, was to have loved him. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 47 years Patricia Journell; one daughter Kelly Beltz of Huntington, WV; one son Rob Journell of Wheelersburg, OH; three grandchildren Katelyn (Jackie) Beltz, Brittney (Ian) Beltz, and Kaycee (Kohl) Beltz; two great grandchildren Kody Alan Nichols and Isaac Zacariah Reed Tsai; two sisters Carolyn Byrd Williamson of Proctorville, OH, and Becky Plumley of Huntington, WV; one brother Jeffrey (Amy) Journell; brother-in-law Terry (Brenda) Blevins of Barboursville, WV; several nieces and nephews; and his furbaby Ollie. Funeral Service will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, OH, with Pastor Fred McCarty officiating. Burial will follow the service in Miller Memorial Gardens, Miller, OH. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
