Ernestine E Cochran's Obituary
ERNESTINE E. COCHRAN, 86, of South Point, OH, died Tuesday, July 24, 2012, in Community Hospice in Ashland, KY. Funeral services will be 11 AM Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point. Ernestine was born October 18, 1925, in Chesapeake, OH, a daughter of the late Floyd and Mae Evelyn Nichols Bridgeman. She went to Chesapeake Schools and then worked at the Huntington Dress Factory as a seamstress. Ernestine later worked at Sylvania Electric and was once crowned Miss Sylvania. In 1957, she went to work at Owens Illinois Glass Factory from which she retired as an inspector in 1988. She was an avid boater who loved to travel and enjoy the sun and surf as well as making sure her homes were located along the banks of the Ohio River. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Cochran, her beloved daughter, Carol J. Turner; and her step-mother, Cootsie Jane "Toots" Bridgeman. Ernestine is survived by one daughter, Donna Howard; five grandchildren, Chris Tiviner, Stacey Cyrus, Susan McCoy, Beth Howard-Marquez, and a special grandson and friend, David and Tammy Howard who acted selflessly in making sure Ernestine received the best care for the last seven years; seven great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; her sister, Norma Lee Jeffries; her brother, Bill Bridgeman; her nieces and nephews, Sandra Molter, Danny Jeffries, Patty Daniels, and David Bridgeman; and several great nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staffs of Morning Pointe and Community Hospice for their care and compassion they gave Ernestine. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Monday at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home, Chesapeake, OH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association in honor of Ernestine. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.schneidergriffin.com.
