Eugene Arthur Stowers Jr.'s Obituary
Our beloved Eugene Arthur Stowers Jr., 57, of Hamlin, WV became an angel on August 25, 2020 after a long and courageous battle with esophageal cancer. He was born May 5, 1963, in Milton, WV to the late Eugene Arthur Stowers Sr and Nellie Ross Clagg. Eugene had an infectious grin, a remarkable sense of humor, and a kindness and intelligence that was unmatched. Eugene was an avid sports fan. He loved the Cincinnati Bengals and Cincinnati Reds. He loved playing basketball, fishing, and golf. Above all, Eugene loved spending precious time with friends and family. After graduating Summa Cum Laude with a B.A. in Business Administration from West Virginia State University, College in 1995, he began a career with the institution which spanned nearly three decades. He served as the Associate Director of Enterprise Systems and Database Administrator of the University. Eugene also received a Master’s degree in Technology Management from Marshall University in 2005. Eugene is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sherry Jenkins Stowers of Hamlin; Daughter Amanda “Mandy”(Nick) Stowers Downs and granddaughter Olivia Downs all of St. Albans; sisters Virginia(Jim) Harris of St. Albans Terry Tabor of Hamlin, and Susan Stowers of Huntington; Brother David “Tommy” Stowers of Hamlin; Mother-in-law Leona Jenkins and Brother-in-law Scott Jenkins of Hamlin; niece Thara Harris; nephews David Stowers, Lee Alexander Tabor, Josh Stowers, Jeffrey Tabor, and Dacoda Dyer. He was preceded in death by niece Crystal Stowers, nephew William Sheppard, father-in-law Buster Paul Jenkins, and brother-in-law David Jenkins. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory Proctorville, OH assisted the family with arrangements.
