Faye Loray Bentley's Obituary
Faye Loray Holbrook-BentleySeptember 3rd,1947-October 6th, 2024Our Mother, Nanna & Great Nanna was called home to the Lord. Faye was born in Wayne County, WVA. Her father was James Holbrook and mother was Patty Ruth McCoy. Faye was adopted as a small child by her aunt Irene Davis (affectionately called "Mother Irene") and her husband Thomas Davis. Faye grew up in Huntington, WVA and graduated from Vinson High School where she was an accomplished tenor saxophone player who marched in the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena CA.Faye is preceded in death by her Husband Preston E. Bentley, her infant son William Albert Tomblin, her son Ernie Bentley Jr., her beloved daughter Margie Davis and her infant grandson Charles Aaron Nelson. She is also preceded in death by two brothers Jim and Frank Davis.Faye leaves behind two sons Richard Aaron Johnston (wife Kelli) of Hanford CA and Edgar Ellis Bentley of Russell Ky. Faye had four grandchildren Hannah Nelson (& Caleb) and Blake Nelson of Lexington, Ky, Whitney (& Glenn) Tozier of Monterey, CA, and Aaron Johnston of Hanford CA. She was also blessed with five great grandchildren Ruth, Kinslee, Kloe, Landon and Noah. She loved them all dearly. Also left behind are two sisters Brenda & Sue Davis along with beloved nieces & cousins Missy, Dreama, Leslie, Kristi, Paula and Karin.Faye loved life and lived every second like it was her last. She was a hard worker who worked as a candy striper at the VA Hospital in Huntington, did clerical work in Ken Heckler's office in Charleston WVA, worked for the US Census Bureau, was owner operator of her own dance studio where she taught dance to young girls in Louisa, Ky and was a Case worker for Head Start in Huntington WVA. She also worked in a few other jobs too numerous to list. The Profession she was most proud of was earning her CDL and driving a tractor trailer all over the United States with her beloved husband Ernie. Her fondest memories included hauling munitions from military base to military base supporting our troops deployed overseas.Later in life Faye joined the Mormon church in Richmond, Ky, and was baptized. Faye spoke very fondly of the fellowship, blessings and friends she made there. Faye never met a stranger and was the best cook to ever dawn a good ole fashion iron skillet. We will all carry her love with us and forever be touched by her presence. Rest now mom.No flowers or remembrance at this time needed. A celebration of life service will be announced at a later date.
