Frances Haussling Arnold's Obituary
Frances Elizabeth Haussling Arnold, 103, of Chesapeake, OH passed away peacefully at home on Monday, November 22, 2021.
She was born on August 3, 1918, to Bertha A. (Geppner) and Karl R. Haussling in Newark, NJ. After graduation from Irvington HS, she was united in marriage to Frederick G. Arnold on September 15, 1940. They were blessed with 2 daughters. She was an alumna from Douglass College at Rutgers University; University of Miami, FL; and Appalachian State University, NC. She taught in Bernards Township, NJ and later until retirement in the Miami/Dade County school system.
After her retirement, she and her husband moved to Watauga County, NC, where she was active with the extension service, ASU alumnae association, and church activities. Shortly after her husband's death, she moved to live in Chesapeake with her daughter, Linda (Robert) Jackson and continued to participate in faith-related activities.
While she was able, she loved to tend a flower garden, visit historic sites, keep in touch with family and friends, decorate for the holidays, bake German cookies and Stollen for Christmas, and identify birds and plants. She had many sewing projects throughout her life, and like her mother, had mission-related sewing projects up to the end of her life.
Besides her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers-in-law Walter Arnold and Richard Friberg, sister-in-law Anne (D'Orsi) Arnold, and great-grandson, Nathan Taylor. She is survived by her sister, Louise Friberg; daughters Lois Taylor and Linda Jackson; grandchildren Scott (Jenine) Taylor and Jeanine Taylor; 10 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews including Janet (Friberg) Jarrett.
She will be cremated with an informal gathering to follow in the spring. Online condolences and memories may be left for Frances' family at www.ehallfuneralhome.com. Hall Funeral Home in Proctorville, OH is assisting the family with arrangements.
