Franklin Danny LaFon's Obituary
Franklin Danny “Dan” Lafon, 92, of Barboursville, formerly of Proctorville, OH, WV, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026, at the Sanctuary of the Ohio Valley in Ironton, OH. Born on January 21, 1934, in Wilgus, OH, he was the son of the late Lee and Mary Ellcessor Lafon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Thelma Lafon; his stepmother, Marguerite Lafon, and his brother, Jim Lafon. Dan was a U.S. Navy Veteran and worked for C&O Railways until his retirement in 1999. He was a lifetime member of the Huntington, WV, Moose Lodge, lifetime member of American Legion Post #16 in Huntington, and lifetime member of the Huntington, WV VFW. Dan and Thelma were avid Marshall fans and attended all the football and basketball games for many years. He is survived by his daughter, LouAnne (Jim) Wilcox; granddaughters, Danielle (Jon) Stutzman and Jamie (Daniel) Dunford; great-grandchildren, Micah Adkins, Tobey Adkins, Torunn Stutzman, Charli Stutzman, Maddox Dunford, Nolan Dunford, and Quinn Dunford; great-great-grandchildren, Asher Adkins and Aurora Adkins; brother, John (Brenda) Lafon; sisters, Delores (Jim) Taylor and Bonnie Oxley; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and one special nephew, Randy (Sandy) Bone. The family would like to thank the staff at the Sanctuary of the Ohio Valley in Ironton, OH, and Community Hospice, in Ashland, KY, for their compassionate care of Dan. In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial contributions to be made to either the Sanctuary of the Ohio Valley or to Community Hospice. Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, March 28, at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory in Proctorville, OH, with Todd Slayton officiating. Urn burial will follow the service at Rome Cemetery.
