Mrs. Ward was a big part of my Jr High years because her son Eddie and I were a couple. Mr.&Mrs.Ward were very nice to me, even tho I was ribbing the cradle, as Mr. Ward put it because I was a year older than Eddie. I spent hours in their home, having special meals cooked by Mrs. Ward.,She was such a special lady. She loved teaching us about her culture, Unfortunately, living away for most of my adult life, my visits w/the Wards became less frequent, but I always kept in touch w/friends and family that kept me up on the local news of friends and family., over the years after I moved back to South point, I would occasionally see Miki and she kept me up on her family news. I probably visited their home in the early 90s when we returned to the Tri-State area. It was like we’d seen each other yesterday. Miki, as you know, I loved your mother and am so sorry for your loss. She was special to many of us and we were better for having her in our lives;even if it was only for brief times after we became adults. The memories of being a small part although for a short time, of the Ward family are very special and so much fun to recall. My prayers are for comfort and grace during this difficult time of grief for Miki, her family and all who knew her and feel the loss. I will certainly take her words to heart.
