Garcia Eugene Criner's Obituary
Garcia Eugene Criner, 73, of New Boston, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2025. Born on November 17, 1951, in Gallipolis, Ohio, he was the son of the late Gene and Hilda Criner Mahaney. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Tina Criner; brothers, Joseph and David; sisters, Darlene, Carla, and Rhonda, and stepson, Marty Lake. Garcia worked for the Counseling Center in Portsmouth, Ohio. He loved playing poker at the Royal Palace and the Poker Palace. He enjoyed auctioneering and had a humorous personality that will be missed. He could make a joke out of anything. Above all, he was a devoted “Pop Pop” to his grandchildren. He is survived by his companion, Charlene “Cookie” Bailey; children, J.R. Criner, Brandy Lake, Amanda Roberts, and Kim Hinamon; grandchildren, Ashton Lake, Aaden Lake, Ethan Nance, and Charles Yates; sister, Sue Reynolds; nieces, Bonnie Jean and Tracy Lynn; nephews, Pierre, David and family, and Justin; brother-in-law, Kevin; Darlene and family, and several cousins. A Celebration of Garcia’s Life will be held from 2:00-6:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the Cedar Street Church of Christ in New Boston, Ohio.
