I was very saddened to recently learn of Gilbert's passing. Gilbert and I attended Pine St Christian grammar school and Eastern Christian high school together in NJ. I last spoke with him while preparing the reunion booklet for our 50th class reunion in 2007.
Gilbert and I shared many experiences during those years. For a time we went to the Passaic YMCA together, my mother bringing us there, Gilbert's mother bringing us home. We commuted to high school together by bus and later when Gilbert got his license he would transport me to and from school.
I would relate the one most significant experience of our relationship. In December 1956 Gilbert and his then girlfriend arrange a first date for me with my future wife. The date came off as planned; the relationship blossomed and resulted in 52 years of blessed marriage. I have always been most thankful for Gilbert's role in carrying our God's plan for my life.
Gilbert was dear friend to me who I am sure will be solely missed by his family and friends.
