Gladys Marie Childers' Obituary
GLADYS MARIE SMELTZER PYLES CHILDERS, 91, of Ely, NV, formerly of South Point, OH, passed away May 18, 2014, in Ely, NV. She was born June 29, 1922, in South Point, OH, a daughter of the late James W. and Ruby McClure Smeltzer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Raymond Pyles and Sam Childers; her brothers, Clifford, Errol, and Jack Smeltzer; her sisters, Katherine Dickey and Marjorie Watts; and her grandsons, Shawn and Kevin Brown. Gladys retired from Northwest Airlines after 27 years of service. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of South Point, OH, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Ely, NV. Gladys is survived by three sons, James E. (Debbie) Brown of Chesapeake, OH, Michael L. Brown of New Bern, NC, and Robert W. (Sandy Gardner) Pyles of Ely, NV; one sister, Betty Qualls of Ashland, KY; grandson Michael (Kelly) Brown of Barboursville, WV; granddaughter, Kim (Wade) Langston of Stanton, AL; and several nephews and friends. Funeral service will be 11 AM Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home, Chesapeake, OH. Interment will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, WV. In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy to the First Baptist Church of South Point, OH, or Ely, NV, or a charity of one's choice.
