Harold L. Sheets' Obituary
Harold L. Sheets, 84, of Chesapeake, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 29, 2018. A memorial service will be conducted 2p.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio by Rev. Bill Flannery. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville, Ohio. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at the funeral home. He was born July 21, 1933 in Huntington, West Virginia, the son of the late Oscar Paul Sheets and Mary Fern Houck Sheets. He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Belle Eaton Sheets. He is survived by his daughter Jill Sheets Kilgore (Russell) of Pickerington, Ohio, his son Scott K. Sheets (Elizabeth) of Huntington, West Virginia, two grandsons, Sean Russell Kilgore and Austin Brice Kilgore, one granddaughter, Abigail Elizabeth Grace Sheets, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his two brothers, Howard L. Sheets and Roy E. Sheets. Harold was a graduate of Huntington East High School and Marshall University, where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and the engineering society. During college, Harold was an accomplished trumpeter and played with a local orchestra. He served in the United States Army post-graduation and was a retired mechanical engineer with Huntington Alloys/Special Metals. Harold was a long time member of the Bethel United Methodist Church in Chesapeake, Ohio, where he served many years as a Sunday School teacher, choir director, lay leader, soloist, and member of the Bethel Quartet. Harold was the epitome of a faithful and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his family who dearly loved him.
