Henry Clay Mitchell Jr.'s Obituary
HENRY CLAY MITCHELL, JR, 67, of South Point, OH, died Friday, January 2, 2015, at his residence. Clay was born September 22, 1947, in East Rainelle, WV, a son of the late Henry Clay and Virgie Mae Gobel Mitchell. He was a U.S. Marine Corps Vietnam veteran serving from 1966 to 1970. Clay worked as a lineman for Buckeye Rural Electric for 34 years, was a member of American Legion Post 93, and an avid hunter, beekeeper, and enjoyed playing baseball when he was younger. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Tina Hollingsworth. Clay is survived by his wife, Kathy Miller Mitchell; two sons, Henry Clay Mitchell, III, and Zachary Mitchell; one daughter, Dawn Mitchell; two step-daughters, Melissa (Mike) Zollman and Angela Letterman; 10 grandchildren, Allison, Samantha, Camryn, Henry, Waylon, Charleigh, Kristin, Michael, Grant, and Garrett; one great grandson, Bentley Hunter; four sisters, Linda (Keith Donald) Mitchell, Loretta (Steve) Cavendish, Lois Boley, and Regina (Steve) Kessler; a host of nieces and nephews; and his good friend, Ashby Leach. There will be a memorial service to honor Clay's life at 2:30 PM Friday, January 9, 2015, at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home, Chesapeake, OH, with Pastor Tim Jenkins and Pastor Evan Melvin officiating. The family will begin to receive friends at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to The King's Court Ministry at Tri-State Baptist Temple, 1300 County Road 60, South Point, OH 45680.
