Hilda Faye Dement's Obituary
Hilda Faye Dement, 81, of Proctorville, Ohio gained her heavenly wings on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at home. She was born July 30, 1939, in Huntington, WV one of twelve children born to the late Raymond and Verna Myrtle Stratton Salmons. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Freddie Lee "Billy" Dement; and her daughter and best friend Debbie Ann Johnson. She leaves behind her constant companion her chihuahua Bodie; daughter Misty Mayo of Proctorville, Ohio; grandchildren Paul Johnson of Chesapeake, Ohio, Wendi Johnson of Louisville, KY, Jessica McCormick of Huntington, WV and Nicholas Mayo of Proctorville, Ohio; seven great grandchildren; a very special caregiver Diana Schneider with which her other two beloved pets reside, Winnie and Tigger; and a sister Nancy Wells of Proctorville, Ohio. She was a member and owner of Lighthouse Freewill Baptist Church on Big Branch in Chesapeake, Ohio. She made her living as a bakery chef and owner of Roys Pastry Shop in Chesapeake, Ohio. She later became a cook for AEP River Barge Company from which she retired. A graveside service with burial to follow will be held 4:30 Friday, July 23, 2021, at Chesapeake Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake, Ohio. No visitation will be held.
