Hubert Ferguson, Jr.

Hubert Ferguson, Jr., 77, of Huntington, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington.
Born on May 9, 1948, in Huntington, Hubert's life journey took him to New York City before he returned to his beloved hometown, where he remained for the rest of his life. He built a strong career working nearly 20 years at the Owens-Illinois plant until its closure, and later retired as maintenance supervisor at Ebenezer Medical Outreach, where he served his community with dedication and skill.
A cancer survivor and active community member, Hubert exemplified resilience and gratitude. He was a proud recipient in the Habitat For Humanity home program, a testament to both his need and his worthiness of community support. His strength in facing life's challenges and his commitment to his community left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Hubert is survived by his two sons, Hubert A. Ferguson and Alexander A. Ferguson; his siblings Lee Ann Baptiste of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Jerome Hartfield of Huntington, and Sylvester Hartfield of Malabar, Florida; and many cousins. He also had close friends throughout West Virginia and beyond. He was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Christopher Hartfield.
Hubert's life was marked by hard work, perseverance, and a deep connection to his community and family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Youngs Chapel AME Church, with visitation one hour prior from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory of Proctorville, Ohio, is assisting the family with arrangements.
