Jacqueline Elaine Hornbuckle's Obituary
Jacqueline "Jacque" Elaine Hornbuckle of Huntington, WV, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend entered into eternal rest on Monday, August 28, 2023 at St. Mary's Medical Center at the age of 68. She was born June 30, 1955 in Logan, WV, daughter of the late Rev. Edmond Hornbuckle II and Lucille Stephens Hornbuckle. Jacque graduated from Logan High School and worked at C&P Telephone Company for several years before moving to Huntington, WV where she continued to work and then retire from Verizon. Retirement allowed her more time to travel across the country to visit her sons and their families as being a mother and grandmother was her greatest joy in life. She was truly the definition of a "Proud Air Force Mom" as she loved following and sharing stories of her sons' military careers.
Jacque was a Past Grand Worthy Matron of Electa Prince Hall Grand Chapter of West Virginia Order of the Eastern Star PHA and Past Worthy Matron of Evergreen Chapter #43 Order of the Eastern Star Huntington, WV.
Jacque lived her life with unwavering faith and was a member of First Baptist Church in Huntington. She had a generous spirit, gave freely of her time, and befriended people everywhere she went. In more recent years she enjoyed spending time at A.D. Lewis Center and the Marie Redd Senior Center.
Jacque was blessed with a large and loving family. She was preceded in death by her brothers Moses, Keith (Anita), Fred, and Edmond L Hornbuckle III. She is survived by her children Michael (Terri) and Brian (Laura); grandchildren Alayna, Jarrett, and Jasmine Hornbuckle, and Brayden, Kylie, and Christopher; brothers Michael (Leigh Ann) and Jerome (Quandora) Hornbuckle and William Hardy (Earlene); sisters-in-law Patricia, Frankie, Joyce, and Jeannetta Hornbuckle; her nieces and nephews who were all very special to her, and numerous extended family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 9, 2023 at First Baptist Church Huntington, WV with the Rev. Anthony Stradwick officiating and Rites by the Order of the Eastern Star Evergreen Chapter #43, PHA. Following the service, interment will take place at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
