JAMES "BRUCE" ADKINS, 84, of South Point, OH, passed peacefully with his family surrounding him, Saturday, March 26, 2017. Funeral service will be 1 PM Friday, April 1, 2016, at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home with Pastor Daniel Beaver officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point. James was born December 22, 1931, in Taplin, WV, a son of the late Paul Scott and Gladys Lawson Adkins. He was a retired union iron worker from Mondie Forge in Cleveland, OH. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Ruth McDonald Adkins; one daughter, Karen Sue Adkins; one son, James Paul Adkins; one sister, Delores Bratcher; and three brothers, Don, Jesse, and Carl Adkins. James is survived by his daughter, Teresa Gibson; three sons, John "Butch" Adkins, Jesse Adkins, and Justin Adkins; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; two brothers, Raynor and Asa Adkins; one sister, Dorothy Daggett; and a host of extended family. Visitation will be 12 noon to 1 PM Friday at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home, Chesapeake, OH. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.schneidergriffin.com.
