James Orville Arms' Obituary
James Orville Arms of Bradenton, Florida passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2025, surrounded by family. James was born September 21, 1948, in Paintsville, Kentucky to the late Orville and Katherine (Conley) Arms. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Doris (Bob) Prince and Minnie Adkins. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Nicki Arms, daughter, Jamie (Ival) Shields and son, Josh Arms of Chesapeake, Ohio and daughter, Tori Danae Arms of Bradenton, Florida. Also surviving are his siblings, Betty (Jim) Ransbottom, Linda Conley, and Bill (Linda) Arms. He was “Pop” to thirteen grandchildren and great grandchildren, Tanner (Jennifer) Arms, Katelyn Arms, Taley (Ryan) Berry, Luke and Leah Shields, Weston, Waylon, Redik, Kingston, Aspyn, Harlyn, JoLee, and Nolan. James was “Bubby” or “Uncle Jim” to many nieces, nephews, and kiddos who he considered family. He was especially close to his great niece, Susan Grace Tibbott of Bradenton, Florida. James was a retired teacher of thirty-five years who also worked with the Manatee County Sheriff’s Department. He loved history, John Wayne movies, British mysteries, National Parks, George Strait, checking the weather, and buying presents for his family. The family will have a private celebration of life. James was loved by many and will be deeply missed. “Oh, the last goodbye’s the hardest one to say, and this is where the cowboy rides away.”
