James Britt "JB" Lawson's Obituary
James Britt Lawson “JB” to all finished his race on earth March 4, 2026. On his journey through 87 remarkable years, JB sowed seeds of humility, faith, and patriotism. A graduate of Hamlin High school, JB excelled as a standout athlete and member of various clubs and organizations. He attended West Virginia Tech and Marshall University and was a retiree of Union Carbide working in many states. JB served in West Virginia Army National Guard and Navy Reserves. JB was a faithful member of Rome Church of Christ, Proctorville Ohio and former elder and member of Main Street Church of Christ Hurricane, West Virginia. For nearly 64 devoted years, JB shared his journey with the love of his life, his wife, Wanda. Together, they built a family whose roots run deep and whose love knows no bounds. He was the best father and will be deeply missed by his children, David (Shannon) Lawson and Susan (Carl) Bowen, as well as his cherished grandchildren: BrittLeigh, Emma, Maggie, and JD Lawson and Elijah and Emily Bowen. He also found special joy in sharing his love with soon to be “grandkids” Abby Irwin and Jack Turner. JB was welcomed into eternity by his parents, Oscar and Ruby Lawson, and his firstborn son, Greg Lawson, whose memories he held close to his heart every day. Though JB’s quiet presence will be missed in the garden he cared for and around the family table, his legacy continues in the lives he touched. His unwavering faith, tireless hands, and abiding love for his family and country will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. A funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, OH. Burial will follow at Rome Cemetery in Proctorville, OH.
