James Milton Thompson's Obituary
James "Jim" Milton Thompson, 83, of Chesapeake, Ohio, peacefully went to be with the Lord while surrounded by family in his home on July 13, 2024. Born November 18, 1940, in Mullens, WV, to the late Joseph Edward Thompson and Effie Grace England-Thompson-James. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant sister, Margie Patricia Thompson and his wife, Linda Marlene Thompson. Surviving to celebrate his life are his four daughters and sons-in-law, Tina (Mike) O'Neill of Little River, SC, Barbie (Randy) Greathouse of Proctorville, OH, Mary Beth Thompson-Wise of South Point, OH, and Kerry (Chris) Fizer of Chesapeake, OH; one sister, Rosie Williams of Arcadia, IN; grandchildren, Christopher (Jessica) Thompson, Bradley (Jenny) Thompson, Mark (Courtney) Dailey, McKenzie (Austin) Ruggles, Taylor Wise, Nicholas Carrico, Shawn Carrico, and Zachary Wise; seven great-grandchildren, Jennavieve Thompson, Alexander Thompson, Braxton Dailey, Brielle Dailey, Beckham Dailey, Grayson Thompson, Ellie Jo Ruggles, and special friend, Jeri Ripley. Besides being the best dad his girls could ever ask for, Jim was well-known by family, friends, colleagues, and the community as a hard-working man who took pride in his work. There wasn't a job that Jim could not do. He was a general contractor, electrician, plumber, and man of all trades. Working was definitely one of Jim's hobbies. Fishing was another passion of Jim's. He told incredible stories of his fishing adventures across America with friends and family. An avid Bluegrass music fan, Jim shared his love of music with everyone he met. Throughout his life, he had the pleasure of becoming personal friends with country, bluegrass, and gospel artists. Jim was a member of the Proctorville Masonic Lodge #550 F&AM, a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, an El Hasa Shriner, Kentucky Colonel, and a Proctorville Eastern Star #257, O.E.S. Jim believed in the generosity each entity possesses. Above everything else, Jim loved the Lord and trusted Jesus as his personal savior in 1980. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Proctorville in Proctorville, Ohio. Jim knew exactly where he was going when he died which was to Heaven to be greeted by and held in the arms of Jesus. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory in Proctorville, OH, with Masonic Rites at 7:30 P.M. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at the funeral home, with Rev. Bill Wilson and Pastor Garrett Wheeler, officiating.
