I read with sorrow of the passing of Jim in the Tuesday newspaper. I must share of my friendship and deep regard for Jim. As INCO pilot, he shuttled me to Elkhart Indiana, Hazelton PA, and even Kings Bay Georgia for the commissioning of SSN West Virginia submarine. He was a great friend and companion, always gracious, friendly, and competent. The only time I ever saw him lose his cool, was as he approached an icy runway at Hazelton in a February morning, after being told by the Control Tower that the runway was clear. I treasured my time with Jim and always felt safe. I hope he knew that. Peace and love. Bob Mauk
