James A. Wood's Obituary
James “Jim” Merle Wood, 87, of Huntington, WV, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, in Huntington, WV. He was born on September 14, 1938, in Huntington, WV, to the late Bernard and Anna Beverly Wood. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 38 years Ada, as well as numerous brothers and sisters. He was a lifelong Huntington resident. Jim owned and operated his well-respected barber shop “Jim's Barber Shop” for many years. Jim was happy to relive old Huntington through his many barber shop memories. Jim was a member of the Central Church of The Nazarene for many years with his late wife Ada. He is survived by his loving wife Nancy with whom he shared his later life and love. Jim and Nancy were married April 21, 2019. He is also survived by his special niece, Debra Stanley, whom he helped raise and considered a daughter; stepdaughter Wendy (David) Wells; stepson Ronnie (Dottie) Dudley; three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 12 P.M. Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, OH. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Huntington, WV.
