Janet Elaine Shafer's Obituary
Janet Elaine Shafer, our loving mother and "Nan Nan", 77, of Willow Wood, Ohio entered into God's Kingdom on December 8, 2023. Janet was born on January 30, 1946 in Ironton, OH and was a life long resident of Lawrence County. Janet was a member of First Baptist Church Russell, Russell, KY, and a member of Eastern Star, Waterloo #447. Janet was multi-talented artist; a ceramist who created many beautiful works and taught others as well, she was a talented cake and pastry decorator, and a quilter who designed and made many beautiful creations with her friends and quilting community. She loved her animals and gardening on the farm. More than anything she loved her family and always took great pride in them, and she was always mom and Nan Nan to all who knew her. Janet's family that passed before her include her parents Ralph and Pearl Brown, mother-in-law Marylene Shafer, her brother-in-law Evan Wall, her special uncle Ben McDade, and her loving husband of 49 years Harold "Bucky" Shafer. Janet is survived by many loving family members, including her son Duane (Stephanie) Shafer of Bluffton, OH; her daughter, Delana Gates of Willow Wood, OH; grandchildren, Jarrett Shafer of Proctorville, OH; Travis (Kalli) Gates of Willow Wood, OH; Katelin (Jonah) Graybeal, of Willow Wood, OH; Karissa (Brian) Bremer of Proctorville, OH; Hannah Gates of Willow Wood, OH; and Grayden Shafer of Bluffton, OH; and three great-grandsons, Ranson Gates, Branch Graybeal, and Dalson Gates all of Willow Wood, OH. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Patty Wall, several nieces and nephews, her friends from her quilting groups Creative Quilters and The Sew Sew Girls, as well as a host of extended family and many friends. Janet was loved very much and will be forever treasured and remembered by her family and friends. Visitation will be at Hall Funeral Home in Proctorville, OH on Tuesday, December 12th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM with Eastern Star service at 7:30 PM. Funeral service will be Wednesday, December 13th at 1:00 PM, officiated by Chris Johnson, with visitation an hour before the service. Interment will be at Perkins Ridge Cemetery.
