Jay Vernon Dingus' Obituary
Jay Vernon Dingus, 83, husband of Eva Dingus of South Point, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 24, 2026. He was born January 21, 1943, in Johnson County, Kentucky, a son of the late Vernon and Imogene Dingus. Jay was a devoted member of Sunrise Nazarene Church. He proudly served his community for many years as Fire Chief of the Fayette No. 2 Volunteer Fire Department, a role that reflected his selfless nature and commitment to helping others. He was also a member of The Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio. He was known for his strength, his steady presence, and the love he had for his family and community. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Brenda Gayle Dingus, his sister, Tammy Gillen, and granddaughter Brittany Webb. Jay was a man whose heart was as expansive as his family. He is survived by his wife, Eva Dingus; siblings, Bill Dingus, Peggy Kelly, and Jeanie Dingus; two sons, Greg Dingus (Jacquie) and Joe Dingus (Sherry); and one daughter, Christy Dingus Allen. He is also survived by two stepchildren, Traci Webb, and Marty Webb (Gloria). Jay leaves behind a legacy of love through his grandchildren: Aaron Cremeans, Jeremy Dingus, Zachary Dingus, Todd Dingus, Stacey Giordano, Ashley Dingus, Kelley Jo Dingus, Jalon Dingus, Brady Reaper, and Delaney Allen; as well as two step-grandchildren, Stormi Vasbary and Katie Workman, and seven step great grandchildren. He was also blessed with 15 great-grandchildren, along with a host of extended family and dear friends who will deeply miss him. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Community Hospice of Ashland, Kentucky, for the care, compassion, and support shown during this time. Jay will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his love for working on the farm, his service to others, and the lasting impact he made on everyone who knew him. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday April 28, 2026, at 2:00 PM, with visitation two hours prior from 12:00-2:00 PM at Hall Funeral Home in Proctorville, Ohio.
