Jerry 'JJ' Jerome Jackson's Obituary
Jerry Jerome "JJ" Jackson, 73 of Huntington, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2020 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. He was born on December 8, 1946 to the late Jim and Annie Jackson. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters Nancy Jackson, Gloria Reed, Sarah Jones, and Barbara Watts; four brothers-in-law: Frank Reed, Jr., Jackson Jones, Jr., Donald Page, and Lonnie Watts; along with his grandson, Melvin Courts, Jr. Jerry was a United Sates Marine Corps veteran, having served in Viet Nam. He also gave long-time service in the U. S. Army National Guard. After returning from the war, he was employed at what is currently Special Metals until he retired. He loved his family very much. One of the highlights of the year for him was attending the Annual Jackson Family Reunions. He was a special caring person; always looking out for his family. He leaves behind to cherish his memory three children: Melvin Courts, Sr. and wife Lynn, Melody Courts, and Jerry Brandon; four grandchildren: Jaysen Lee Redman, William Courts, Lakishia Shawnta Courts, and Jamele Montgomery; four great-grandchildren: Jordan Nyree Redman, Jaysen Lee Redman, II, Donte Isaiah-Anthony Atkins, and Nylah Renee Smith Courts. Also, surviving are his siblings: Lorenza Powell and wife Dorothy, Leola Page, Johnnie Jackson and Julia, Corla Rankin and husband, Greg, Earnestine Richmond and husband, Paul, his ex-wife Ann Jackson, and step children Kelly and Tracy, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. J.J. was a "people person" and had the most beautiful smile. Everyone that knew him loved him. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 5 2020, at Halls Funeral Home in Proctorville, Ohio with Bishop Samuel R. Moore officiating.
