Jerry Dale Keeney Sr.'s Obituary
Jerry Dale Keeney Sr., 75, of South Point, OH, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, WV. He was born July 30, 1950, in Ironton, OH. He was the youngest of 14 children born to the late Fred Keeney and Spicie Brumfield Keeney. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he led his family with a Godly example, firm and steady hand, and a kind heart. Known for his big smile and even bigger hugs, he was always there to support and give guidance with unwavering and unconditional love for his family. Jerry is preceded in death by his loving parents, Fred and Spicie Keeney as well as his siblings and their spouses, Charlie Keeney, Mary Keeney, Fern Keeney, Ethel Kingery, Norbert (Kathy) Keeney, Freddie (Judy) Keeney, Billie (Phyllis) Keeney, John (Phyllis) Keeney, Lona (Bill) Kingery, Mildred Graham, Hazel (Gene) Ashworth, Harold Keeney, and brother-in-law, Gorman Hammock. He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 57 years, Patricia Ann Hysell Keeney. One daughter, Tammy (Perry) Ward of Scottown, OH; three sons, Dale (Sherry) Keeney of South Point, OH, Mark (Christie) Keeney of South Point, OH, and Jason (Jennifer) Keeney of South Point, OH; 21 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; sister, Bonnie Hammock of SC; three brothers-in-law, Clarence (Jewell) Hysell of South Point, OH, Don (Debbie) Hysell of Chesapeake, OH, and Mike (Cathy) Hysell of Chesapeake, OH; three sisters-in-law, Bonnie Keeney of South Point OH, Wanda Hysell of South Point, OH, Clara Nicholas of Crown City OH, along with a special grand dog, Boomer, and a host of friends and family. Jerry was a life-long member of Jackson Avenue Church of God Holiness where he served as a Sunday school teacher, Deacon, song leader, special singer, and mentor to all. He loved nothing more than leading the song service, playing his guitar, and singing praises to his Savior. Mourned for and missed by many, we take comfort in the knowledge that we will see him again in heaven where he is once again singing and praising God. Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at Jackson Avenue Church of God Holiness in Huntington, WV. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at 12:00 P.M. Burial will follow at Leatherwood Cemetery in South Point, OH. Schneider-Hall Funeral Home in Chesapeake, OH, is assisting the family with arrangements.
