Jerry Lee Lewis' Obituary
Jerry Lee Lewis, 79, of Huntington, WV passed away peacefully at home with his daughter, Jennifer by his side.
Jerry was born in Columbus, Oh to Nelson and Dorothy (Graham) Lewis. He attended Marshall University pursuing a degree in Chemistry until he enlisted in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He met and married his wife, Kun Cha “Shin” when he was stationed in Korea. His first daughter, Kim Lee Bowen (Lewis) was born when he was stationed in the Philippines. Once returning to the states, his second daughter, Jennifer Lynn Lewis was born in Huntington, WV where he spent the rest of his life.
Jerry worked at Houdaille Industries in Huntington, WV as a chemical lab technician until the factory closed in 1980. He then worked at Columbia Gas Transmission Plant in Kenova, WV until the company was sold to Mark West in 1996. After leaving Columbia Gas, he worked at the Radisson Hotel (Doubletree) in maintenance until he retired.
Jerry loved fishing and spent many days and weekends on his boat at East Lynn Lake, often taking his family and parents on the lake in the early 80’s. He loved Marshall University and Cincinnati Bengals football, his beloved cats, family, and rock n roll.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Dorothy Lewis, and his wife, Shin.
He is survived by his daughters, Kim Lee Bowen (Jeffrey Hughes) of Charlotte, NC, and Jennifer Lynn Lewis of Huntington WV. Three grandchildren, Cody Allen Lewis Bowen (Kristin Bowen), of Proctorville, Oh, Olivia Shae Bowen (Colin Smith) of Huntington, WV, and Trenton Alexander Nelson Raines of Charlotte, NC. 2 great granddaughters whom he adored, Hadley Elise Bowen and Gracelynn Marie Smith. Special caregiver Danielle Kapowitz (Jimmy Pinson) and special friend, Brandon Bailes.
Hall Funeral Home and Crematory of Proctorville, OH are in charge of cremation and a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 14th 1pm at Sanctuary of Grace 36 Township Rd, 1204 Proctorville, Oh. All are welcome to come join us to celebrate Jerry, talk about fond memories, and listen to Jerry’s favorite music.
